Dvsn Releases Toxic New Song ‘If I Get Caught’

Honest communication is one key to a healthy relationship. However, there are times when a partner’s honesty is coming from a toxic place. Case in point: dvsn’s new single “If I Get Caught.”

The song was produced by Jermaine Dupri, Nineteen85 and Bryan-Michael Cox, and contains a sample of Jay’Z’s classic “Song Cry” from 2001’s The Blueprint.

“If I Get Caught” tells a familiar story of wanting your caking and eating it too, particularly in a relationship. (There’s a lot to unpack in this three-minute song, so sit tight.) The song opens with the first verse, where dvsn’s vocalist Daniel Daley suggests women naturally gravitate towards men who are desired by others. “You wouldn’t want me if you thought I never had hoes / Women like men other women like / That’s just something that everyone knows,” he sings.

The chorus suggests that cheating on a partner has nothing to do with not loving them in some cases. “If I get caught cheating that don’t mean I don’t love you / I know you ain’t going to let / One lil’ f*ck mess all this up,” he chants.

Now the song’s content may stir up debates, but one thing is for sure: dvsn has made an impressive comeback. At its core, “If I Get Caught” is a blues-leaning tune that tells a nuanced story of complicated love.

To accompany their new release, dvsn has released an official video for “If I Get Caught.” Directed by Andy Madeleine, the video shows Daley and his friend hitting the streets while his girlfriend is at home wondering what he is getting himself into.

“If I Get Caught” is dvsn’s first song since releasing their 2021 joint project with Ty Dolla $ign, Cheers to the Best MemoriesEarlier that year, they released Amusing Her Feelings, the deluxe edition of their 2020 album, A Muse In Her FeelingsThe latter project was among Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2020 and was noted as “their most daring album to date.”

Dvsn is gearing up to release their fourth album. In addition to Dupri and Cox, they have been spotted in the studio with Jagged Edge and Sean Garrett. A release date has not been announced yet. However, dvsn confirmed earlier this year that the album is expected to arrive in 2022.
