At some point in time, we’ve all worn a shiny red nose and matching red shoes for someone we couldn’t let go. Tink is going through a similar situation, sharing her experience breaking soul ties on the new song “Goofy.”
For “Goofy,” a slow jam about an unwise Tink hooked on the goods of an undeserving lover, she writes alongside Rico Love over an interpolation of 702’s “Get It Together.”
“I guess that dick got me goofy / Halfway past stupid / I’m so f*ckin’ ruined / And it ain’t nothin’ I’m doing about it,” Tink sings.
In tandem with “Goofy,” Tink released an accompanying music video that was filmed in her hometown of Chicago, Illinois. “The video is a peek into what many of us go through in our relationships … that’s why I love it so much. It’s honest,” she said.
The new track will appear on Pillow Talk, Tink’s forthcoming album executive produced by Hitmaka. It arrives on Aug. 19 via Winter’s Diary / EMPIRE. “Many of these songs were written solely by me, I’m still pushing my pen. Hitmaka and I put a lot into this,” Tink said in a press statement.
Of the album title, Tink compares Pillow Talk to “laying in your bed talking to your guy or girl. It’s a very sexy, soft mood.”
The first Pillow Talk single, “Cater,” featuring 2 Chainz, arrived in April with the official video directed by Daniel CZ. Hitmaka flipped Destiny’s Child’s 2004 classic “Cater 2 U” for Tink’s tender track, which received a warm response from urban radio.
Pillow Talk is the follow-up to Tink’s 2021 album Heat of the Moment, also executive produced by Hitmaka.
The 14-track album features Jeremih, Kodak Black, Davido and BLEU. The latter act, formerly known as Yung Bleu and an EMPIRE affiliate, guested on the focus track “Selfish.”
