Hot on the heels of the new song “Heartbreaker,” DaniLeigh continues steady output with the new EP My Side. The seven-track effort follows the multi-platinum singer’s 2020 album Movie.
Thus far, DaniLeigh’s shared two My Side songs, including the one mentioned above and the harsh “Dead To Me,” which arrived on May 10. She recently shared the latter’s accompanying music video.
My Side is by far DaniLeigh’s most forthcoming project to date, making no bones about detailing the public and alleged poisonous relationship with rapper DaBaby, the father of her first child.
Little is left to the imagination on the emotionally challenging record as DaniLeigh blasts him on “CAP,” a brutally honest track airing him out for his malicious ways.
“Throwing stones and mixing hoes in our business / Got these blogs posting all this fake shit / You know that you dead wrong,” she viciously expresses.
On “The Same,” which swipes the producer tag of Whitney Houston’s sassy kiss-off, “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay,” DaniLeigh puts down the mothering of toxic men. “All these dudes be the same / Just different names / Put they mama to shame for the way they was raised / All these dudes be the same.”
All the clouds aren’t gray, though. Sunshine comes on the closing track, “4 Velour,” a sweet lullaby she dedicates to her daughter. “You’re my favorite person / My lil miracle / You give me a million reasons to always be a better me.”
