2022 MTV Video Awards Nominations (R&B Edition)

The Weeknd received the most nominations at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, with five total. The global superstar, who just started his Afters Hours Til Dawn Tour, is a two-time nominee in the Best Collaboration field, one for “One Right Now” with Post Malone and the other for “La Fama” alongside Rosalía.

The Weeknd garnered nominations in three other categories, including Best R&B (“Out of Time”), Best Choreography (“Tears In The Club” with FKA twigs) and Best Editing (“Take My Breath“).

Normani trails close behind The Weeknd, scoring three of her own for “Wild Side” featuring Cardi B. The hit song peaked atop urban radio last year and was certified gold. Normani’s latest single, “Fair,” is available now, as well as a collaboration with Josh Levi.

Muni Long is a first-time nominee, picking up a Push Performance of the Year nod for “Baby Boo.” The single features Saweetie and appears on Long’s latest project, Public Displays of Affection Too.

Chlöe also landed an inaugural solo nomination in the Best R&B category for “Have Mercy.” She is no VMAs stranger, already notching five nominations as Chloe x Halle. Chlöe also performed her solo debut single “Have Mercy” at last year’s ceremony, which was show-stopping.

Other R&B-centric nominees include Alicia Keys, H.E.R., Summer Walker and SZA.
