Dua Lipa has been named an Honorary Ambassador of her home country, Kosovo.
“Yesterday afternoon I was awarded the title of Honourary Ambassador of Kosovo by our Madame President Vjosa Osmani,” the pop star shared on Instagram, alongside photos of herself with the president. “It’s an honour and a privilege to be able to represent my country all over the world and to continue my work and efforts globally to see that we leave our mark and make a difference. The youth of Kosovo deserves the right to visa liberalization, freedom to travel and to dream big. Thank you.”
President Osmani marked the occasion online as well, thanking Dua Lipa “for everything she has done and is making our voice heard everywhere in the world.”

President Osmani also recognized Lipa’s father, Dukagjin Lipa, who, alongside his daughter, founded the Sunny Hill Festival in Kosovo’s capital of Pristina. This year’s event featured performances by Dua Lipa, J Balvin, Diplo, and more.
Both of Dua Lipa’s parents are ethnic Albanians hailing from Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. She herself was born in London.
Dua Lipa’s last album was 2020’s Future Nostalgia, while she more recently teamed up with Calvin Harris and Young Thug for the Song of the Week “Potion.” In less pleasant news, unauthorized fireworks went off during the singer’s concert last month in Toronto, injuring multiple fans.
