AUGUST 08 Releases New Album ‘Seasick’

Buzzing singer AUGUST 08 has released the debut album Seasick, following his two EPs Toward The Sun and Toward The Moon. It was issued under Jhené Aiko’s newly-minted label ALLEL Sound, in partnership with Def Jam Recordings.

Set up by the response of the two previous extended plays, Seasick combines the music from both releases, including the focus track “500 Days” and the Aiko-assisted “Water Sign.” AUGUST 08 released the supporting video for the latter song during the same week he announced his signing to Aiko’s imprint.

Besides Aiko, the 15-track album features contributions from ScHoolboy Q and Joji, both of which appeared on AUGUST 08’s EPs.

Two brand new songs are part of the Seasick as well, coming at the tail end of the effort. “Pieces,” co-produced by MikeWavvs, Gray Hawken and Reako Hendrix, finds a warmhearted AUGUST 08 not willing to let his past lover fall to bits for the sake of a poisonous relationship.

“I’d rather give you away / Then to keep you in pieces / There are things on your face / Feel like so much has changed / Knew it wouldn’t be easy / I can’t leave you in pieces,” AUGUST 08 sings on the chorus.

On “Minivan,” produced by WYNNE and Dan Smith, AUGUST 08 sings against an acoustic, guitar-laden tune as he reminisces on the times spent with a childhood love in a classic DeLorean.
