Ella Mai Performs ‘Hide’ for Pandora

Ella Mai loves to be behind the mic. The award-winning singer and songwriter teamed with Pandora to perform “Hide” from the Xfinity headquarters.

Dressed in an oversized black suit jacket and cream leather thigh-high boots, Mai sits on a stool to let out the tender song. She is joined by two background vocalists who emerged from the shadows of the low-lit stage on their respective stools.

“Hide” is lifted from Mai’s sophomore album, Heart On My Sleeve, released in May. Co-produced by Mustard, Sean Momberger and Lee Major, the song has been streamed more than a million times on Spotify.

Heart On My Sleeve follows Mai’s Grammy-nominated self-titled album, released in October 2018.

The 15-track album features Lucky Daye, Latto and Roddy Rich. The latter rap sensation appears on the current radio single “How.” A dramatic music video was released for it last month.

Speaking of singles, Mai shared “DFMU” and “Not Another Love Song” as pre-album tracks. “DFMU,” produced by Mustard and J. Holt, soared to No. 1 on R&B radio and Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. It marked her fourth chart-topper on the latter list, ending Silk Sonic’s reign with “Love’s Train.”

In September, Mai is supporting Heart On My Sleeve on Mary J. Blige‘s headlining Good Morning Gorgeous Tour. It begins Sept. 17 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Queen Naija also will perform on select dates. Get information on tickets and dates here.

Mai will appear on Babyface‘s forthcoming album Girls’ Night Out, which releases Oct. 29 via Capitol Records. “Keeps on Fallin’,” on which she features, was issued as the album’s lead single. They performed it at the 2022 BET Awards in June.
