Whaddaya Mean Megadeth Recorded a Judas Priest Song for an Amazon Project?!

This could either be really cool or an embarrassing flop, but Megadeth have recorded a Judas Priest cover for an undisclosed Amazon project. Word of the song and its existence came while frontman and shredding ginger Dave Mustaine was in an interview on the Talkin’ Rock with Meltdown Podcast.

“We went and listened to the song and charted out the performance. And going into that kind of micromanaging of the song, that minutiae production, we started to see a lot of things in the song where it seemed like there was no guide for the song.

“So we did everything the way that we do our recordings. And I believe it got a little more straightforward with the riffing and everything.”

During the chat, Mustaine gushed over his love of Judas Priest’s 1976 classic album Sad Wings of Destiny. Though he didn’t say whether the song Megadeth recorded is found on that record, there certainly are some great songs to choose from. That being said, I don’t know if I can imagine Dave singing “Victim of Changes,” but “The Ripper” or “Deceiver” might work?

As long as it’s nothing off of Nostradamus, I’m good.

Aside from all the drama surrounding former bassist David Ellefson, Megadeth has been plugging away at promoting their upcoming album, with new music videos — which you can see below — coming out at a regular clip. Megadeth’s new album The Sick, The Dying…And The Dead! drops September 2 and is currently available for pre-save and pre-order.
