Dixson and Sevyn Streeter do the math in the official video for their collaboration “Cherry Sorbet.”
In the Weird Life-directed video, we see Dixson and Streeter working as colleagues in a systems data center.
Dixson is a brilliant mathematician, and Streeter, known as Daisy in the visual, supports him in an administrative role. Their chemistry is undeniable, even at the workplace, as neither can keep their eyes off the other.
“Cherry Sorbet” is the first single from Dixson’s forthcoming project 004DAISY, which releases on Sept. 16. His focus track, released in May, currently occupies No. 19 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart after 13 weeks.
His impending effort marks the follow-up to his 2021 release DARLING. The seven-track EP ranked No. 6 on Rated R&B’s Best R&B Albums list. Contributor Anders Hare wrote it was a “love letter to women, featuring dedicated pages of support and admiration.”
Dixon’s 004DAISY comprises ten songs, featuring appearances by Streeter, Tinashe, Vic Mensa, Stolen Nova and Michael Armstead. It will available for pre-order this Friday, blasting off with three new songs ahead of its official release date.
In a 2022 interview with Dixson, he spoke about the direction of his upcoming work, which is slated to be a double feature.
“Two projects are dropping in 2022, but it’s one project for me because I want people to start it with project one and potentially flow into project two if they want to or set it up in a way where if you put all the songs in a playlist, you can shuffle them, they still feel good next to each other.”
He added, “For me, this next one is peeling back a layer that I haven’t expressed before in my music. That’s the more theatrical character-driven side of my music. I grew up in theater. I love to embody characters.” By the looks of this new video, Dixson is delivering on his promise.
Earlier this year, Dixson celebrated two major accomplishments, which involved co-producing and co-writing Beyoncé’s “Be Alive” for the King Richard soundtrack. The song was nominated at this year’s Golden Globes and Oscars.
Dixson recently collaborated with Beyoncé again on her new album Renaissance. He co-wrote fan-favorites “Virgo’s Groove” and “Pure/Honey.”
