Marilyn Manson Sexual Assault Case Headed to D.A. “Sometime This Month”

Shock rocker and alleged rapist Marilyn Manson remains in hot legal water at the moment, according to a newly released video statement by Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón, who revealed that he could be getting the case in his office “sometime this month.”

As it stands, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has been handling an investigation for the last year into Evan Rachel Woods’ accusations that Manson abused her, threatened to sexually assault her then 8-year-old son, and did other terrible things to her while they dated. She’s not the only woman to make these accusations, but former lovers and other music icons have come to Manson’s defense.

According to Gascón, the matter hasn’t yet made its way to his office, where he would review the sheriff’s department’s findings and determine whether there are actionable charges to be leveled against Manson. In the video, Gascón refers to Manson by his birth name, Brian Werner.

“The [Marilyn Manson] matter is still under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and has not yet been submitted to our office. Be assured that we are requesting regular updates on the status of the investigation.

“The District Attorney is committed to investing in trauma-informed care for all victims of sexual assault, abuse and intimate partner violence. We understand how difficult it may be to come forward as a victim, especially when the case involves this level of notoriety, and are dedicated to treating all victims with the highest levels of care and respect.

“Once we have received the case, it will be carefully evaluated by an experienced prosecutor to determine if it is appropriate to file charges at this time. We are hopeful that the LASD will present the case to us sometime this month.”

As with most of these types of proceedings, things are messy from both parties. Wood has gone on to make a documentary about her case called Phoenix Rising and Manson has filed a counter lawsuit against the Westworld actress for defamation, emotional distress, and “impersonation over the internet.”
