Surprise! The Melvins Dropped a New Album Bad Mood Rising Out of Nowhere

Leave it to the completely offbeat dudes in The Melvins to unexpectedly release their new album without any fanfare at all. Earlier today, the difficult-to-define band revealed on their website and the Amphetamine Reptile Records page that their new album Bad Mood Rising was now streaming and available at “all top tier local record stores.”

Eagle-eyed vinyl fans had already gotten wind that the album was releasing, even though it was never actually announced and the band never put out any singles to support it. It should be noted that during recent shows, the band has been playing songs off the new record, including “Mr. Dog is Totally Right,” which is a trippy 14 minute affair, and “Never Say You’re Sorry.”

Having listened to it for a bit now, I gotta say it’s definitely more Melvins, which if you like their brand of oddity, then you’re gonna love their sludgy, strange style. Personally, I dig the hell out of The Melvins, so this was a welcome surprise to help close out the week! So scroll down, hit play, and take it all in.

You can catch The Melvins on tour with We Are The Asteroid at any of the dates below. Seriously chances are they’re coming to a town near you because these guys are insane road dogs that don’t quit.
