Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Jeremih is back with a new single, “Changes. It’s accompanied by an official music video directed by Mills Miller.
The Hitmaka-produced single is his first new solo single in over four years.
Wrapped in layers of nostalgia, “Changes” borrows from Avant’s 2003 classic “Read Your Mind,” which he cleverly utilizes to challenge a lover who’s backed off after a minor conflict.
‘How I’m pose to miss you every night / How you left me standing in the rain / How you gonna forget all the things we did in one argument then change, baby,” Jeremih sings.
Speaking on the new single, Jeremih says, “We all go back and forth with relationships sometimes and the various changes they can have. The ups, the downs, but the best change is having someone that’ll make you stop doing what you’re doing to focus on just that.”
“Changes” is a preview of Jeremih’s untitled forthcoming album.
In terms of solo releases, Jeremih’s last output, The Chocolate Box, a collection of four songs, arrived in March 2018. His most recent full-length album, Late Nights, was released back in 2015. It was certified platinum, with more than one million equivalent units sold in March 2018.
Later in 2018, Jeremih linked up with Ty Dolla $ign for a collaborative project, MihTy. It featured the singles “Goin Thru Some Thangz” and “The Light.”
Since Late Nights and MihTy, Jeremih has collaborated with a dozen artists, including Ne-Yo, Wale, Tink, Tebby, Sevyn Streeter, and Tinashe, to name a few.
In the fall of 2020, the hit song “U 2 Luv” with Ne-Yo spent three weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. Earlier that year, the Wale-led “On Chill” reached No. 2 on the same chart.
In March, Jeremih released his first mixtape, Late Nights With Jeremih, on streaming platforms to celebrate its 10th anniversary (Aug. 7, 2012).
