John Bush Thinks “It Would Be Cool” to Do Some Shows Covering His Time in Anthrax

Ask any Anthrax fan which vocalist they like more, Joey Belladonna or John Bush, and you’ll likely get an impassioned answer. It’s like asking whether someone’s a Rolling Stones or a Beatles person — there’s no wrong answer, but they’ll explain their answer in great detail.

So for fans who consider themselves stans for the John Bush era of Anthrax, you may want to check out a recent interview the man himself did with The Metal Voice, as he’s revealed that he thinks it would be great to do a handful of shows covering some of his Anthrax material.

“It’s never gotten to the point where actually it’s been made to happen yet. But, I’m offered the idea. I think it would be great. I don’t really wanna go out and do like a 30-date tour with it, but it would be cool to do a handful of shows in some key markets.

“We can certainly play those songs for a support slot or even a headlining slot, let’s face it. I think there’s enough songs of the four records [I recorded with Anthrax] that would make for a great show. Who [would be] in the band, I’m not exactly sure. I talked to [former Anthrax guitarist] Paul Crook about it, ’cause I love Paul; he’s a great guy. He was actually there when I made a couple of those records, as far as engineered and played guitar on it. And I have done some stuff with the Metal Allegiance guys; we’ve done ‘Only’ and ‘Room For One More’ at various shows. Rock In Rio would be one, [which] we just played… I’m open to it. It’s just a matter of… the timing, I think. Really, that’s what it comes down to.”

So there you have it. There’s a possibility that Bush may hook up with former Anthrax guitarist Paul Crook to get the ball rolling on some shows featuring his work on albums like The Sound of White Noise, Volume 8: The Threat is Real, and We’ve Come for You All.

As a fan of the John Bush era of Anthrax myself, the prospect of getting to hear those songs live again sounds like a hell of a good time. Here’s hoping that this happens.
