Femme It Forward, the women-led music and entertainment company, has announced its inaugural Give Her FlowHERS Awards Gala.
The event will recognize “trailblazing women in entertainment who empower, uplift, and inspire change.”
This year’s honorees include Ciara and her husband, Russell Wilson, Muni Long, Victoria Monét and Jozzy, to name a few.
Ciara and Russell will receive the Black Love Award, which celebrates a union that encapsulates the essence of Black Love.
The two got engaged in March 2016 and got married that July at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England.
The influential couple has made strides with their business ventures. In 2019, they launched Why Not You Productions, their creative company for film, TV and digital content.
The company is named after their non-profit organization, which “is dedicated to creating real and lasting change in the world by motivating, empowering and preparing today’s youth to be tomorrow’s leaders.”
In 2019, Ciara and Rusell launched The House of LR&C (Love, Respect and Care), their fashion house, which includes the women’s line LITA, the Gen Z-friendly Human Nation and the men’s line Good Man Brand.
In other Ciara-related news, she recently released her “Better Thangs (Remix)” featuring rapper GloRilla.
Long will be celebrated with the Bloom Award, which spotlights “a breakthrough artist who has kicked through the door to success.”
In September, Long released her debut album, Public Displays of Affection: The Album, which includes her platinum-selling hit “Hrs & Hrs.”
Monét will be awarded with the Visionary Award, which highlights “a multidimensional creative who is changing the game for the future of women in music.”
Jozzy, who is now signed to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ new label Love Records, will accept the Pen It Forward Award, which recognizes “a trailblazing hitmaker who is known for their’ pen game’ and creating some of music’s biggest hits.”
Other special awards honorees include rapper Latto (Big Femme Energy Award), social media personality and entrepreneur Tabitha Brown (Self-Love Award) and rapper Lil Baby’s mother Lashon Jones (Moms I’d Like to Follow — M.I.L.F. Award).
“The Give Her FlowHERS Awards Gala is a realization of the work we do year-round with Femme It Forward to champion, empower, and celebrate the women who are pushing our culture forward every day. This inaugural class of honorees and nominees are exceptional and have made such a significant impact in their fields and in their communities,” says Femme It Forward President/CEO Heather Lowery.
She adds, “With this gala, we wanted to take it a step beyond a traditional awards show and create a special experience that truly represents everything our culture is about: family, love, sisterhood, entrepreneurial spirit, innovation and artistic brilliance. Our Awards categories – from the Black Love Award to The Muse Award to The Self-Love Award – all reflect that vision. We are so proud to use this moment as a platform to give these amazing women’ their flowers’ and look forward to celebrating their accomplishments!”
The Give Her FlowHERS Awards Gala will be held Friday, Nov. 11, at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, California.
Emerging acts Alex Vaughn, Baby Tate, Joyce Wrice and Mapy The Violin Queen are scheduled to perform.
Proceeds from the Give Her FlowHERS Awards Gala will benefit Femme It Forward’s mentorship program, Next Gem Femme.
