Lucky Daye Releases ‘Candydrip (Deluxe)’ Album

Grammy winner Lucky Daye has reissued his sophomore album, Candydrip, with a deluxe edition.  

The expanded version includes all the original songs Candydrip, plus four additional songs.

Frequent collaborator D’Mile produced and co-wrote two of the new songs, including “These Signs” and “NWA (Original Version),” a track that originally featured Lil Durk.

D’Mile also co-wrote and co-produced “Apply Pressure” with Ben Maddahi. Here, Daye is crushing hard on a fly woman he wants to explore romantic possibilities with. The fact she isn’t giving in as quickly to his advances as he’d like it’s affecting his male self-esteem. He’s still doing his best to impress.

Leading up the Candydrip (Deluxe), Daye released an official video for “F*ckin’ Sound.” Kanya Iwana directed the visual. 

The standard version of Candydrip was released on March 10. it debuted at No. 5 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart, giving him his first appearance on the list. 

“Over,” the lead single from Candydrip, entered at No. 92 the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It’s his first entry on the main singles chart. The Musiq Soulchild-sampled tune reached No. 77 in the April 09 issue. 

On Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, “Over” peaked at No. 14, while it climbed to No. 6 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart.

This fall, Daye released Candydrip as a double LP vinyl. It’s available at Target, Amazon, Barnes & Nobles and Elusive Disc, among other music retailers. Vinyl prices range from $26.99 to $33.99. 

Daye is nominated for five 2023 Grammys, including Best R&B Album (Candydrip) and Best R&B Performance (“Over”).

His other nods come from his writing credits on Mary J. Blige’s Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe) and Beyoncé’s Renaissance.

He co-wrote Blige’s title track with Blige, H.E.R., Tiara Thomas and D’Mile. It’s up for Best R&B Song, Best Traditional R&B Performance and Record of the Year

As a co-songwriter on Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe) and Beyoncé’s Renaissance, Daye is acknowledged as a double Album of the Year nominee.

He co-wrote “Alien Superstar,” from Beyoncé’s latest platinum album
