Kenyon Dixon is spreading holiday joy this season with his new song “Here (For Christmas)” with Jade Novah.
The heartwarming tune hears Dixon and Novah longing to be cuddled up (in bed) with a special person during the holidays.
“I just want a little time, you and I, no distractions / Caroling into the night, sit fireside, all I’m asking,” Dixon sings.
Novah responds in the second verse, singing, “It won’t be a silent night / Keep my fire burning bright / Need you right here by my side.”
“Here (For Christmas)” is a reworked version of Dixon’s song “Here” from his latest album, Closer.
Regarding his new track, Dixon says, “‘Here’ is already a fan favorite on Closer/Closer(Deluxe), so I knew any modification to it had to be perfect. With this urgency for nearness and quality time already being a theme in the record, I knew exactly who to call to make this song even more special.”
Dixon released Closer in May. The album ranked No. 9 on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2022 list. “Closer delivers a direct aural experience that’ll invigorate any true R&B fan. If Dixon makes you fall back in love with music, then he has completed a job well done,” wrote Rated R&B’s Danielle Brissett.
On Nov. 4, Dixon released Closer (Deluxe), which features four new tracks, including “Getting Late (Extended).”
“It’s more of the R&B we love and have always loved. I think nostalgia plays a huge part in why R&B music makes us feel the way we do and so I wanted to make sure I continued to capture it in the most perfect way,” Dixon said about the expanded edition.
In August, Novah released her EP Moon in Pisces. The five-track project includes “Rollercoaster,” which features Dixon. Novah spoke about her experience working with Dixon in an interview with Rated R&B.
“I love Kenyon. I always sing his praises. I was a fan before I was his friend… I feel like [Kenyon] is the male counterpart of me in this industry, like where we are right now. We’re both independent artists. We both just did our headlining tour. We both used to sing background for other artists and had to figure out our way,” said Novah. “This is our second time collaborating. For his project, Expectations, we did ‘Stay Down,’ which was so much fun, and he returned the favor and hopped on ‘Rollercoaster.’”
