This year has been a solid year in video games, with plenty of ups and notable letdowns. We’re going to explore the best video games of 2022.
When the ball dropped, ushering in the new year, there was a feeling among many that 2022 would be one for the books when it comes to video games, and understandably so.
The lineup was incredibly stacked with games like Sifu, Dying Light 2, Elden Ring, Horzion Forbbiden West, Gran Turismo 7, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, etc.
Thanks to the games mentioned above, the year started strong, hitting their release dates and delivering exceptional gameplay earning solid reviews.
Xbox Didn’t Quite Have A Stellar Year
Unfortunately, there was a bit of a hiccup, specifically for Xbox Series S|X owners looking forward to playing console-exclusive AAA titles from its recently acquired studio Bethesda.
If you haven’t heard, Starfield and Redfall had their wigs pushed back until 2023, leaving some Xbox fans looking at their Series X consoles in disgust.
But, thanks to some third-party games coming to Xbox Game Pass, the Xbox Series X wasn’t just t tall sexy lego block.
Let There Be Delays
There were some titles we were looking forward to coming out in 2022, but due to needing more polish will not arrive until 2023.
Forspoken, Dead Space Remake, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora were due to arrive on consoles in 2022 but didn’t make the cut.
If it’s one thing we don’t need in the new year is a buggy game, looking at you, Pokemon: Scarlet and Violet.
Despite Delays, We Got Some Pure Heat
One game the video game world was holding its breath for was God of War: Ragnarok, which many assumed would also be delayed.
We are happy to say that was not the case, with Kratos and Atreus’ latest adventure being the final to piece to close out the year and joining a list of other titles that blew us away.
