Joshua Henry Shares New Song ‘Can’t Nobody Tell Us Nothin’’

Tony and Grammy-nominated singer Joshua Henry has released his new single “Can’t Nobody Tell Us Nothin’.”

It’s the first taste of Henry’s forthcoming album, which is set to arrive this spring.

Henry co-wrote and co-produced the song with Theron “Neff-U” Feemster (Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo). Jordan Purvis, Kyle Mann and Joseph Abate also contributed to the production.

“Can’t Nobody Tell Us Nothin’” paints a beautiful picture of two people madly in love with each other.

“I don’t remember / I don’t even know my name / Lost track of time but who cares? / You’re mine / And when love is overflowing / Can’t nobody tell us nothin’,” Henry sings.

“‘Can’t Nobody Tell Us Nothin” is a feeling of being undeniably and totally in the embrace of love. It’s a mix of intimacy and fireworks that only the heart can understand,” explains Henry.

“Can’t Nobody Tell Us Nothin’” is Henry’s first proper single since releasing his debut album, Grow, in September 2021. The classical soul album featured “Stand Up,” a tribute song to Martin Luther King Jr.

“Over a period of about three months, the entire album was completed. Writing Grow, I learned how to be more vulnerable and how to show the love, positivity, the fun, the sexy.. all of me. It was the most complete, fulfilling artistic process I’ve ever taken on,” Henry shared at the time of release.

Music aside, Henry has been hard at work in the world of theater.

In Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration, an ABC animated and live-action special that debuted this past December, Henry earned critical acclaim when he gave a new and captivating take on the notorious Gaston.

This February, Henry returns to The Philly POPS at The Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for a series of concerts as part of the GET UP, STAND UP!: An Encyclopedia of Soul.

The three-night event, scheduled for Feb. 17-19, will hear Henry salute funk, soul and R&B legends such as James Brown, Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke. Rickey Minor will support as guest conductor.

Tickets are available now on The Philly POPS’ official website.
