Grammy-winning producer Malik Baptiste enlists Snoh Aalegra for “All You Need to Know,” a new song he produced. It’s his first new song since releasing Spectrum (demo) in August 2020.
“All You Need to Know” is a smooth listen amidst Baptiste’s heartfelt lyrics about his journey of leaving home and reconnecting with those he left behind.
Aalegra’s vocals go from soft and lush to machine soul, while DJ and producer Don Cannon champions the record.
“I’m not with you always /But that don’t mean, I won’t / Won’t be loving you always / That’s all you need to know,” Aalegra coos.
Discussing “All You Need to Know,” Baptiste says, “When I left home, I did so quietly and without many updates on why or what I’ve been up to. Relaying this message of love through Snoh, I’ve set out to reconnect with my loved ones and propel myself forward into goals I’ve set for myself.”
Aalegra has kept a low profile since the success of her 2021 album, Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies.
The album debuted at No. 24 and No. 3 in its opening week on the Billboard 200 and Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart.
Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies featured two chart favorites, “In Your Eyes” and “Lost You.” Of the two tracks, the former, produced by The Neptunes, went the distance on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, reaching No. 4.
Aalegra’s album placed No. 12 on Rated R&B’s 30 Best Albums of 2021 list. If that wasn’t good, Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies was also nominated for Best R&B album at the 2022 Grammys.
This year, Aalegra received a Best Traditional R&B Performance nod for “Do 4 Love,” a remake of Bobby Caldwell’s 1978 classic “What You Don’t Do For Love.” Her take first premiered on Spotify Singles and then moved to all streaming platforms.
