The End is Seemingly Nigh for Papa Emeritus IV in Ghost’s Latest Video

Things are starting to look grim for Ghost’s Papa Emeritus IV. The Swedish band that’s become one of the biggest acts in the world sure loves its lore and occasionally, they release these “chapters” to release new information or to hint at changes to come. This latest clip from the band seems to fall in the second category.

For those that don’t know, the persona of Ghost’s frontman changes every so often — usually at the start of a new record cycle. With Impera having been released not too long ago, it’s strange that we’re now getting major hints that Papa Emeritus IV could be going bye-bye. And by bye-bye, we mean get offed by the “clergy” only to have his body shown in state next to the other previous papas. Which is why the visual of Mr. Saltarian wheeling a “brand new coffin” around in front of Papa IV is particularly jarring to the goofball playing Nintendo.

There’s all kinds of theories as to what this all means, with the video’s tagline being “we wish to inform you that in this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes.” The video’s main purpose was to announce that an additional tour date was added at the end of the run, with a second date added at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on September 12.

With the two days there, fans are now wondering if something’s up, since Amon Amarth won’t be playing those nights and there have been numerous hints that “Jesus is Coming,” including a weird Ghost poster found in Hollywood. Oh and past Ghost videos have all but spelled impending doom for Papa IV over and over again.

So who knows? Maybe something big will happen or maybe not. Most of you are going to complain in the comments that we’re even giving Ghost any attention, so instead of going any further, you can check out the tour dates below the video. They’re a good time live.
