Legendary Video Game Designer Hideo Kojima Praises Lorna Shore’s Pain Remains

If you’ve ever played any of the Metal Gear Solid series or fell into the rabbit hole that’s Death Stranding, then you’re intimately familiar with the in-depth virtual worlds of Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima. While anyone who’s followed him on Twitter or has tried his past work knows he’s a HUGE film buff, it’s also pretty common knowledge in the gaming industry that the guy loves his music.

Having chosen music from all kinds of bands for his games, like CHVRCHES and Bring Me The Horizon for Death Stranding and Starsailor and Midge Ure for the Metal Gear Solid series, he’s certainly got an eclectic taste. Earlier today, we found out that the 59-year-old auteur is now a fan of symphonic deathcore band Lorna Shore. According to a tweet earlier today, Kojima said he received Pain Remains from Sony Music, noting that it’s their debut album in Japan and that it’s “a stiff deathcore.”

The reaction from Kojima was then noticed earlier today by Will Ramos himself, retweeting Kojima’s initial call out in the process.

Usually when Kojima tweets about something or someone, there’s speculation about whether they’ll show up in a future game. It happened with Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen, it can happen with Lorna Shore. Maybe the Death Stranding 2 soundtrack isn’t completely set just yet and needs something with a little more… oomph.

Lorna Shore will be heading out on tour with Mastodon and Gojira next month, so there will be plenty of opportunities for Kojima to catch the band live at any of the dates below.
