Twisted Sister to Perform at Certain Political Rallies Next Year

Dee Snider and Twisted Sister have been getting some additional attention over the last year. From the use of “We’re Not Gonna Take It” by Ukranian soldiers as a rallying cry against Russia to Snider’s recent appearance on “The Masked Singer,” the classic 80s hair/shock rock outfit is kinda en vogue despite officially hanging it up years ago.

One arena where Twisted Sister’s remained relevant all these years has been in the political sphere. Politicians of all stripes, have co-opted the band’s music for their political means and starting next year, Twisted Sister is going to do the same. While elections rage throughout the U.S. in 2024, Dee Snider and the guys are going to play at various political rallies.

“We were all in favor of gonna go down to support Beto [O’Rourke], but we couldn’t schedule it. You know, the band has a concern that the [classic Twisted Sister] song [‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’] is being co-opted by the extreme right… and we want to make sure that people still know it’s a song for everybody and it does not represent that selfish micro group. It is really for the mass people, the moderate people, the people that just want to live their lives, be themselves, and not have people tell ’em they can’t be themselves. So, I think you’ll see us at political rallies and stuff like that. We’ll be out there next year.”

In the past, Snider’s been open about the fact that he couldn’t legally or morally stop former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake from using “We’re Not Gonna Take It” at campaign events. Still, it seems like its continued use by that sort of candidate has pushed the band to try to take the song back in a way.

We’ll see how their involvement in various political rallies and events will play next year. There’s sure to be some level of manufactured controversy if they spend more time with Democrats than Republicans, that’s certain.
