TA Thomas Releases New Song ‘June 15th’

TA Thomas, formerly of the R&B group Next Town Down, has released his solo debut single, “June 15th.”

Over an acapella-styled production, helmed by Camper, TA paints a vivid picture of a relationship fading away.

“Saturday, we perfect lovers / Sunday, you won’t stay my name / Monday through Friday, we back together / Then suddenly everything changed / Suffocating in the silence / To sum it up, we playing games,” TA despondently sings in the first verse.

Regarding “June 15th,” TA explains, “‘June 15th’ tells the story of a love that has gone from passionate to passive, from lovers to roommates. It illustrates a cold war battle of passive disconnections and fleeting emotions.”

“June 15th” is the lead single from TA’s upcoming debut EP. “We’re coming to a moment in time where guys are becoming a lot more vulnerable. This project embodies the male perspective of being in and out of love,” TA exclusively tells Rated R&B.

As noted above, TA is a former member of the now-disbanded Next Town Down. The group released their Juliet EP in 2019 via RCA Records. The project included features from 6LACK, Rich the Kid, and Calboy.

Next Town Down officially announced their hiatus in April 2022 in an open letter that was shared on Instagram.

“Although every story has an end, the ending is just a new beginning. We’ve built such a strong foundation as a unit & as brothers, and we will continue to work together and support each other through this next phase of our lives,” they wrote.

In the same year, TA reconnected with fellow Next Town Down member Tre’von Walters to co-write “Talm’ Bout,” which appeared on Chris Brown‘s Grammy-nominated album, Breezy; it was nominated for Best R&B Album.
