Legal proceedings and a lack of official representation in the music industry be damned, Marilyn Manson is teasing something on his Instagram page. Just a few hours ago, the disgraced shock rocker whose last musical output was a guest spot on a Kanye West track, told his fans and followers that he had “something for you to hear,” accompanied with some artsy photos of him with a microphone shot by his wife, Lindsay Elizabeth Warner.
We have no idea what it could be that Manson’s teasing, but the easy answer is obviously new music. Looking at the photos though, it looks like he’s got a podcast going on, with the style of mic he’s using and the boom its attached to being hints at that angle. I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t new music, but that just seems like a lot of cost and effort without an agent or record label helping out. So who knows?
What we do know, however, is that a California judge threw out a portion of Manson’s ongoing legal case against his ex Evan Rachel Wood after she claimed he sexually assaulted her. Manson’s counter-suit alleged that Wood not only made false allegations against the vocalist, but that she urged women to do the same by creating and distributing a checklist of things to say to damage the man.
According to Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Teresa A. Beaudet’s ruling, however, decided that those claims were “hypothetical and thin, ” according to a report by AP News. Wood’s lawyer Michael Kump said the judge’s decision was a fair one:
“We are very pleased with the Court’s ruling, which affirms and protects Evan’s exercise of her fundamental First Amendment rights. As the Court correctly found, Plaintiff failed to show that his claims against her have even minimal merit.”
On the other side of the coin, Manson’s attorney responded to the ruling by calling it a disappointing new wrinkle in the case.
“The ruling is disappointing but not unexpected. The Court telegraphed this outcome when it refused to consider the bombshell sworn declaration of former plaintiff Ashley Smithline, which detailed how women were systematically pressured by Evan Rachel Wood and Illma Gore to make false claims about Brian Warner.”
Manson has been the subject of multiple sexual abuse allegations. among other things, from different women over the years. The status of all those cases differ, with some like the one put forth by actress Ashley Smithline getting thrown out altogether and Esme Bianco’s case getting settled out of court.
