A couple weeks ago, I shared with you guys the reveal trailer for Netherrealm Games’ highly anticipated fighter, Mortal Kombat 1. At the time, people in the know gave me shit, since it looked like a glorified CG trailer with zero gameplay. A fair criticism for sure, but I’d be lying if I said the hype hadn’t gotten to me when that clip dropped.
Well, yesterday was the Summer Games Fest and as a result, we got a better look at the game itself. And as someone that’s played the Mortal Kombat series (albeit terribly) since the original Mortal Kombat on the Sega Genesis, I wish I could go back in time and tell younger me all about this new one. Built from the ground up for modern consoles and PC, this game looks absolutely brutal.
Everything from the character interactions to the background stages screams “high quality.” And yes, the fatalities/brutalities are absolutely bonkers. The level of detail they can get into with how you can dispatch your foes is… a lot.
Anyways, check out the trailer below if this is your cuppa tea. Considering how many nerds are into metal, I think there’ll be quite a large number of you interested.
