Scar finally sealed.
After much-anticipation, Doja Cat finally lets herself heal and unleashes her long-awaited single, “Attention”.
Inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne’s famed novel, The Scarlet Letter, the “Say So’ hitmaker gets in her rap bag where she addresses her critics, boasts her physical attributes, and preaches self-love.
“I am not afraid to finally say shit with my chest,” she proudly raps over Y2K and Rogét Chahayed’s soothing instrumental. “Lost a little weight, but I ain’t never lost a tushy / Looking good but now my bald head match my…. / Looking good but now they all saying that I’m ugly / Boo-hoo, my nigga, I ain’t sad you won’t fuck me.”
The accompanying video, directed by Tanu Muino, follows Doja walking and dodging paparazzi in the streets of L.A. and dancing topless basked under fluorescent lights.
“Attention” is the first single off Doja Cat’s upcoming follow-up to her 2021 album, Planet Her. Since then, the L.A.-based rapper/singer released “Vegas” from the Elvis film soundtrack and has collaborated with the likes of SZA, Post Malone, French Montana, and Tyga.
