Patti LaBelle to Perform Tribute to Tina Turner at 2023 BET Awards

Patti LaBelle will honor the late Tina Turner at the 2023 BET Awards, according to BET.com. The ceremony is set to air live Sunday, June 25, at 8 p.m. ET.

It has not yet been announced whether LaBelle will lead the tribute alone or be accompanied by other guests.

Turner passed away at 83 due to a long illness in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.

LaBelle, presented with the BET Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011, was among the artists to pay tribute to Turner in a social media post.

“Tina, the world will forever be grateful for your voice, your fearlessness, and your grace,” wrote LaBelle in a caption for a photo of Turner. “You truly are the Queen of Rock & Roll and your spirit will reign forever! Rest in eternal peace and love!”

BET Networks has announced the second set of performers for its upcoming ceremony, in addition to LaBelle.

Previously announced hip-hop 50 performers include the Sugarhill Gang, MC Lyte, Big Daddy Kane, E-40, Fat Joe, Warren G, Trina, Remy Ma and more.
