T-Pain has partnered with a new brand. Lipton Iced Tea has launched a new summer campaign with the singer/rapper reimagining “Steal My Sunshine” by rock band Len.
The campaign aims to evoke childhood nostalgia among parents and to promote their new frozen treats, Pops of Sunshine, in flavors like Green Tea Citrus and Peach.
In the 16-second commercial, now airing nationwide, a parched T-Pain is on the front lawn and asks for a Lipton Iced Tea from his on-screen family and friends. He’s thrown a peach-flavored tea while others enjoy popsicles, and everyone watches in awe.
“Putting my own spin on ‘Steal My Sunshine’ was a lot of fun because it was THE summer track back in the day,” said T-Pain. “As a busy parent myself, I know how special it is to be instantly transported back to those simpler summer days, and I’m happy to team up with Lipton Iced Tea to help parents do that.”
Julie Raheja-Perera, general manager, North America, Pepsi Lipton Partnership, added, “Summer is primetime for iced tea, and as America’s favorite tea brand, Lipton Iced Tea is ushering in the new season by spreading sunshine to parents who crave – and deserve – their own version of a summer break, no matter how big or small.”
Perera continued, “With our introduction of T-Pain’s reimagined take on the classic summer hit ‘Steal My Sunshine,’ and our refreshingly cool iced tea pops, we’re paying homage to the carefree youthful summers of our past and giving our fans more of what they want – and need – this season.”
As part of the campaign, parents have the opportunity to win some exclusive Pops of Sunshine until June 28. For more details about the competition, kindly visit liptonpromotion.com.
T-Pain and Wendy collaborated on a new version of his 2007 hit “Buy U a Drank” titled “Buy U a Frosty.” The jingle is named after the fast-food chain’s popular frozen drink.
Beyond his business endeavors, T-Pain dropped a covers album, On Top of the Covers, in February. It features his rendition of classics such as Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” and Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life.”
Of the project, T-Pain said, “This covers album has been years in the making. I started recording this right after I won The Masked Singer. It got put on hold for a bit but now that I’m independent, I’m able to do whatever I want to do through Nappy Boy Entertainment and this is something I’ve felt strongly about for a long time. These songs are not what you’d expect when you hear that T-Pain is doing a covers album and that is what I think is cool about it.”
