Durand Jones Announces North American Tour Dates

Singer-songwriter Durand Jones has announced his headlining North American tour in support of his debut solo album, Wait Til I Get Over.

The tour kicks off Sept. 19 at Old Rock House in St. Louis, Missouri. From there, Jones will make stops in Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Portland, and Los Angeles, before wrapping up at 191 Toole in Tucson, Arizona, on Nov. 18.

Leading up to the headlining tour, Jones will play international dates during July and August.

Afterward, he’ll be performing at Bumbershoot in Seattle, Washington. He’s scheduled to perform on the first day of the two-day event, which takes place over Labor Day weekend (Sept. 2-3).

Jones’ lengthy fall tour comes after his mini tour, which wrapped behind the album’s release this spring.

Jones, also the frontman for retro band Durand Jones & The Indications, released Wait Til I Get Over on May 5 on Dead Oceans. His first full-length effort included the singles “That Feeling” and “Lord Have Mercy.”

Jones recently spoke to Rated R&B in an in-depth interview about Wait Til I Get Over, an album dedicated to his hometown of Hillaryville, Louisiana.

“With making this record, I wanted to tackle and overcome these things that made me uncomfortable from being poor and growing up in a neighborhood that was underserved — a neighborhood that was crumbling. It was living in memory. What was once there was no longer. I was really embarrassed about those things,” explains Jones to Rated R&B.

He continued, “But now, going out and seeing the world and discovering a lot about myself and what I learned by being a Hillaryville and growing up there, I realized that I should be proud of that place. I should be proud of where I come from, not embarrassed about it necessarily. I really wanted to take that on with this project.”
