Rising singer ASTN is seeking answers on his new EP Where Do We Go From Here? out now on Warner Records.
The eight-track project includes the previously shared tunes “Be So Cruel,” “How Soon” and “On Schedule.”
On Where Do We Go From Here? the Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter invites listeners into his world as navigates the aftermath of a breakup.
ASTN tells Rated R&B he started writing Where Do We Go From Here? in March 2022, after exiting a three-year relationship. “I didn’t fully understand it at the time, but I was basically journaling my healing process with the EP,” ASTN reveals to Rated R&B.
He continues, “It has been so long since I’ve been connected to my music in this way and it’s the first time I feel I’ve been truly honest in sharing all the different sides that make me who I am. I can’t wait to see how other people can connect it with their own experiences and perspectives.”
Among the fresh tracks on the project is “Element,” the current single that was co-produced by The Audibles and Poo Bear. On the mellow bop, ASTN sings about someone who lights up his world whenever they’re around him.
“All that work put me in my element / All that talk put me in my element / All them curves put me in my element / That’s why you’re part of my regiment,” ASTN sings in the chorus.
“Element” arrives with an accompanying video, directed by Hunter Lyon. The video captures the chemistry between ASTN and his love interest, portrayed by Halle Powe, as their profound connection transcends the surrounding chaos at a packed club.
Regarding “Element,” ASTN shares with Rated R&B, “This song actually came to life during my first ever trip to Miami. I was able to link up with Poo Bear, who has been one of my favorite writers for a while now. He played me this track that I immediately just knew was something special. There’s a specific energy to the song that screams Miami so it almost felt like it was destiny.”
Where Do We Go From Here? is the follow-up to ASTN’s major-label debut EP, You’re Almost There, released in March 2022.
