Rising singer J. Brown has connected with Kevin Ross for his new song “Weightless,” which Ross wrote and produced.
“Weightless” distinctly feels like a takeoff, with gusts of wind heard in precise moments in the background of the production. This makes sense as J. Brown and Ross narrate a low-key track to cater to their women in planned and spontaneous fashions, much like boarding a plane without luggage, as J. Brown croons.
In his verse, Ross aims to make his lady feel like she’s floating when he goes for a love TKO in the bedroom ring.
“Weightless” is the second offering from J. Brown’s upcoming sophomore album, The Art of Making Love, which arrives July 28 via MochaMusic/SRG-ILS Group.
His warm-up track, “123 Fourplay,” was released earlier this month. It’s not the official lead single; “My Whole Heart” is, and it debuts when the album releases.
So far, “My Whole Heart” has been showered in support at R&B radio stations, taking the crown for the second most added song on the format last week. It was the fourth most added song this week, with 10 new stations.
The Art of Making Love follows J. Brown’s 2022 debut album, Chapter & Verse, which included the Tank-assisted track “Don’t Rush.” The collaboration reached No. 7 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.
Speaking on the Adult R&B chart, Ross enjoyed his third top 10 single earlier this spring with “Look My Way.” It’s now No. 8 at the time of publication.
“Look My Way” appears on Ross’ latest project, Midnight Microdose, Vol. 1. It’s the first installment of a three-part series that will be released throughout the year. The record also includes its other pre-project single, “Show & Prove.”
