Snoh Aalegra is back. The Grammy-nominated singer has returned with her new single, “Be My Summer.”
Aalegra co-wrote the song with Ari PenSmith, who also co-produced it alongside Michael Uzowuru, Michael Heldman and RⱯHM.
On the soothing tune, Aalegra yearns for affection from an ex-lover. “Try movin’ on but I’m right here where we left off / Naked walls at my place, where you let me / Now they’re dressed up with my momma’s poetry / You were oceans away but you fell deep,” she sings.
“Be My Summer” is Aalegra’s song release since 2021. In October, she shared “Do 4 Love,” her rendition of the late Bobby Caldwell’s hit song “What You Won’t Do For Love.” She co-produced the updated version with Leon Thomas and Ali Roots A16.
Before that, in July of the same year, Aalegra released her album, Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies.
The album was nominated for Best R&B Album at the 64th Grammy Awards. “Lost You,” a top 10 hit from the album,” was nominated for Best R&B Performance. Meanwhile, “Do 4 Love” landed a Best Traditional R&B Performance nod at the 65th Grammy Awards.
Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies also included “In Your Eyes,” produced by The Neptunes, which reached No. 4 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.
Aalegra supported the album on her headlining -Ugh, These Temporary Highs Tour.
