ALT BLK ERA – Tissues – First Listen (Single Premieres) – Jammerzine

ALT BLK ERA have today released their new single titled ‘Tissues’, from their upcoming EP ‘Our World’, dropping May 22nd via LAB Records.

‘Tissues’ unfolds with the kind of controlled intensity that Jammerzine tends to gravitate toward, where atmosphere matters as much as impact. ALT BLK ERA build the track with purpose, letting abrasive textures and tight rhythmic movements coexist without fighting for dominance. There is a push and pull at work here, a sense that the song is constantly negotiating between restraint and release. Rather than overwhelming the listener, the production stays focused, allowing each shift in tone to feel earned and deliberate.

What ultimately anchors ‘Tissues’ is its emotional clarity. The performance feels direct and unguarded, as if the song is less about presenting an image and more about confronting a moment head on. There is strength in that honesty, especially in how the vocals cut through the instrumentation with conviction instead of excess. ALT BLK ERA show a growing command of how to translate internal tension into sound, and ‘Tissues’ stands as a confident step forward, signaling artists who understand that vulnerability and power are not opposing forces but complementary ones.

About ‘Our World’

‘Our World’ marks ALT BLK ERA’s first project since their breakout debut album Rave Immortal, a breakout release which debuted at No.1 on the Official UK Rock & Metal Chart, earned the duo a MOBO Award for Best Alternative Music Act, and led to standout appearances including Later… With Jools Holland.

With their new EP Our World, sisters Nyrobi (21) and Chaya (18) Beckett-Messam push their genre-defying sound into bold new territory, delivering a confident and fully realized body of work that fans have been eagerly awaiting. The new single ‘Tissues’ captures this evolution perfectly, showcasing some of the duo’s most commercially minded yet emotionally resonant songwriting to date. Blending driving EDM undercurrents with the distorted guitar tones fans have come to love, the track surges forward on infectious vocal melodies and razor-sharp, punchy production, signaling a focused and forceful statement of intent from the duo.

Speaking about ‘Tissues’, Nyrobi explains: “After opening up about my hidden disability in songs like ‘Straight To Heart’ & ‘Come On Outside’ it feels like there’s no topic we should be scared of singing about.

With all that’s going on in the world, it was good to talk about feeling overwhelmed with emotions – over a hyper/pop rock beat. The juxtaposition of it almost feels therapeutic.”

Continuing to speak about the duo’s evolution and upcoming tour, Nyrobi continue: “We’re having so much fun exploring our sound, and it feels like we’re really stepping into ourselves with every song. We’re so excited for the headline tour! We have so many things planned, and it’s going to be next-level insane. After touring with Pendulum, we feel more confident on stage. It’s definitely something to look forward to, for us and for our audience.”
