Eve to Star in ABC Hip-Hop Drama ‘Queens’

Eve is headed back to television.

The rapper has landed a starring role in the ABC hip-hop drama “Queens.” According to Deadline, the hour-long pilot centers around four estranged and out-of-touch women in their 40s who reunite for a chance to recapture the fame and swagger they had as the Nasty Bitches, a ’90s group that made them hip-hop legends.

Eve’s character Brianna was Professor Sex, one of four members of the Nasty Bitches, who rapped about money, sex, and their glamorous lifestyle. Twenty years later, Brianna is a proud wife and busy mother of five. While her life may not be glamorous, Brianna loves her life. But when an opportunity arises for a reunion with her former group, Brianna has to decide whether or not she still has the swagger and confidence that made her an icon decades ago.

In addition to starring, Eve will record and perform original music as her character. “Queens” is written and executive produced by Zahir McGhee.

The Grammy and Daytime Emmy winner is no stranger to acting. Her movie credits include the Barbershop franchise, XXX, and Whip It. From 2003-2006, she starred as Shelley Williams on the aptly-titled UPN sitcom “Eve.” She also co-hosted four seasons of the CBS daytime series “The Talk” before leaving last year.

Eve, who recently launched her BBC Sounds podcast “Constantly Evolving,” hasn’t released a new album since 2013’s Lip Lock. In 2019, she dropped her single “Reload” featuring Konshens.
