EXCLUSIVE: Amazon MGM Studios after a very lengthy search has found its new Head of International Theatrical Distribution in Paramount’s Helen Moss. Moss, who has been Paramount’s SVP of International Distribution, will launch Amazon MGM Studios new foreign theatrical distribution arm, which we first told you about back in February. Moss has been at Paramount for the last 17 years.
Amazon MGM Studios Head of Film, Streaming and Theatrical, Courtenay Valenti, has just informed staff with an internal memo. Moss will report to Valenti, but will also work with Sue Kroll, Global Head of Marketing; Kevin Wilson, Head of Domestic Theatrical Distribution; Charlie Coleman, Head of International Theatrical Marketing; Stephen Bruno, Head of Film Marketing, and Co-Heads of Film Publicity, Adriene Bowles and Christine Batista.
Moss has worked on releasing all the big Paramount hits offshore, i.e. Tom Cruise and the studio’s highest grossing movie Top Gun Maverick ($1.49 billion), as well as the Sonic the Hedgehog, Mission: Impossible, Star Trek and Transformers and A Quiet Place franchises in addition to the vibrant reboots of Scream as well as the new Smile horror movies and Gladiator 2. Moss has also worked on several DreamWorks Animation titles when they were handled by Paramount, including Kung Fu Panda, Shrek Forever After, and How To Train Your Dragon as well as Oscar winner The Big Short.
A UK native, Moss began her career in 2008 at Paramount Pictures as Vice President of Film Planning in London. In 2012, she played a key role in the successful transition of the International head office in Los Angeles. She was named SVP in 2014. In her current executive role at Paramount, Moss manages the theatrical releases, planning, and execution of all Paramount titles in over 65 markets worldwide. She oversees box office reporting, strategic dating, competitive analysis, financial review and integrated release planning. Prior to joining Paramount Pictures, Moss managed European finance and planning for Expedia.com, in addition to roles at Intercontinental Hotels Group and Oriflame International.
Amazon MGM Studios’ current foreign theatrical output deal withWarner Bros. ends at the end of this year.
