‘EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert’ Leads Quiet Indie Weekend, Nice Start For Gianfranco Rosi’s ‘Pompei: Below The Clouds’ — Specialty Box Office

Neon’s EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert is holding at no. 9 at the domestic box office on 1,965 screens in week 3. The documentary by Baz Luhrmann is playing for an estimated gross of $1.5 million and a new cume of $10.9 million. It’s quiet on the indie film from with week until Oscars.

Milla Jovovich-starring action thriller Protector opened to a weekend cume of $744k on just over 1,000 screens. From Magenta Light Studios, directed by Adrian Grunberg.

The 2026 Oscar Nominated Shorts with Roadside Attractions this year is looking at a $545k gross on 325 screens for a cume of $2.98 million. The three-part program of Animated, Live Action and Documentary short films, will end its run after the awards next Sunday.

Horror Dolly from IFC Films Entertainment scared up an estimated $480k opening weekend on 810 screens.

Gianfranco Rosi’s Venice prize-winning documentary Pompei: Below The Clouds from Mubi had a nice $18.8k theatrical debut at two NYC theaters playing to sold out shows at the Walter Reade Theatre and the IFC Center as critics’ love (97% with RT critics, 27 reviews) helped drive box office. The black-and white portrait of modern-day life in Naples in the shadow of Vesuvius will continue its platform rollout next weekend in LA and Chicago followed by additional top markets throughout March.

Holdovers: Beyond EPiC, Neon has another four films still out on over 100 screens each, Sirat topped $1 million with a $353k weekend, The Secret Agent had a $94k weekend for a $4.1 million cume, and Sentimental Value made $23k for a $5.1 million cume in, respectively, playweeks 5, 15 and 18 for the Oscar contenders. Nirvana The Band The Show The Movie, in week 4, grossed $228k for a $3.6 million cume.

A24’s Oscar hopeful Marty Supreme, out since Christmas, grossed $240k on 890 screens for a cume of $95.6 million. Alexander Skarsgard-starring Pillion is at $349k on 369 screens for the three days with a $3.2 million gross.

Kokuho from GKids, the historical drama that broke box office records in Japan, topped $1 million on 41 screens in week 5 for a $45.7 weekend.
