Eric Silverman Drops New Single

Eric Silverman Drops New Single

American singer-songwriter and guitarist, Eric Silverman, renowned for his work in indie rock and psychedelic pop/rock, puts his music where his mouth is on “New Life,” the single from his forthcoming Bitter Honey album, set for release on May 29th, 2016. A native of the New Jersey area, Silverman’s passion for music started early with primary influences being The Beatles and The Beach Boys, and he started out in the San Francisco based pop/rock band Heartwatch, and that is where his reputation for songwriting and guitar playing began to flourish and lead to a body of his own solo works.

Making way for the Bitter Honey album release, “New Life” describes the situation at hand, being a new chapter in the career of Silverman, which comes with inflections of starting over, following up the acid-fried desert rock influence of 2023’s release; Stay In, which the writing for Bitter Honey immediately followed. “New Life” rings in new hopes and possibilities, if not just musically, also translating to real life for Silverman. And it carries more of a Bob Dylan approach than the music of his previous album release, ye sounding nothing like Dylan. However, the rest of the album is yet to be heard.

The arrangement of “New Life” is lush and full of soft string work with an almost symphonic appeal for a laid-back song steeped in acoustic folk, but it works wonders to keep interest throughout the song and showcases the softer side of Silverman. If you’re not familiar with his work, it’s worth exploring for more insights to the artist, but this is likely what his fans have come to expect from him as a veteran of the music scene. It serves as a good first step forward as a single to lead the album release.

“New Life” begins with a super light sweeping acoustic guitar, before Silverman comes in singing about believing in nothing but the aimed listener, with a cynicism but also a compelling message to carry on regardless of the mounting pressures of togetherness and departure. It plays like a love song that translates well to anyone reflecting on modern times. Silverman pleads to look deeply into his eyes to see his soul and realize life doesn’t end at departure of something or someone; it often begins a new journey. “New Life” is a song of acceptance and continuum.

Being from New Jersey comes with its own culture, but after residing in Oakland, CA, Silverman carries more cultural experience for the artist between the two music scenes which vary in their ways, both musically and socially. It’s the best of both worlds colliding with Silverman’s steady string of releases dating back to 2020’s debut solo release. “New Life” introduces the forthcoming album along with a mellow introduction by way of a strikingly positive message to ease minds of listeners and prepare them for the full outing. “New Life” breeds its own title and gains interest in the process; and Bitter Honey promises to produce even more.
