Olympic Skater Tomàs-Llorenç Guarino Sabaté Barred from Using Minions Music

Tomàs-Llorenç Guarino Sabaté has gone viral in the figure skating world for a delightful short program in which the Spaniard dresses up like a Minion. Unfortunately, he won’t be bringing the routine to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan. Just days before the opening ceremony, the six-time Spanish national champion was informed that his routine’s music wasn’t cleared due to copyright issues.

“I followed all required procedures and submitted my music through the ISU ClicknClear system back in August, and I competed with this program throughout the entire season,” he wrote on his Instagram Story. “Unfortunately, just days before the Olympic inauguration, I was informed that I am no longer permitted to use this program due to copyright clearance issues.”

Although Sabaté called the timing “incredibly disappointing,” not all hope is lost.Sabaté also has a Saturday Night Fever routine for his free skate, complete with a matching outfit. In the meantime, check out his Minions routine from the 2026 Spanish Figure Skating Championships below.
