Denver’s Mainland Break Capture The Current Mood With ‘I Give In’

Released on the 6th of June, ‘I Give In’ from Denver’s Mainland Break will have you wondering how they have managed to get into your thoughts, until you realise it’s most likely something we’re all going through.

Jangly, raw, and with a vibe of nonchalance, the vocals capture the feeling of resignation when life becomes all too much, and you can only see one way through to the other side, as expressed in the second verse:

I give in
To this moonlit prison
And I surrender to my surroundings
The ground water’s welling up
Spilling coffee down the cup

Guitar driven, while propelled forward by a steady bass line and drums, ‘I Give In’ is catchy and hypnotic, while the lyrics look inwardly at life, capturing a feeling that perhaps we’re all going through in these weird times we’re living in.

Speaking about the track, Mainland Break said,

“It’s about taking the path of least resistance and losing an internal struggle. The wave crashes over you, but also propels you. You love, but you hold yourself back from loving. Tension builds, but tension fades. You’re emotionally nimble, but emotionally shackled. You feel mobile, but you are stuck.“

‘I Give In’ comes with a music video that feels like it’s been shot at 3am, the band wandering around what’s presumably the streets of Denver, on a summer’s night that’s looks like it’s been too hot to sleep. They’re all awake with nowhere in particular to go, dropping in and out of dodgy bars, giving in to wherever the night takes them. We’ve all been there.
