It’s been eight month since Afrobeats star Great Adamz unveiled his vibrant album, ‘Blessed Boy’, and since racing to the top of the iTunes Nigeria Chart, he’s kickstarted TikTok trends, collaborated with the likes of WYN, garnered millions of streams, and is set to light up festival season. Featuring the uplifting ‘Fantastic’, and rhythmic ‘Funke’, ‘Blessed Boy’ may have been released last year, but this easy-going, colourful release still offers a perfect soundtrack for sun-soaked days and dreamy dance floors.
A recent visualiser highlights the track’s irresistible appeal – from African dance crews to viral influencers like Purple Speedy, its infectious groove has captivated audiences. The song’s online momentum has spread like wildfire, showcasing Great’s distinct talent for creating feel-good hits infused with Amapiano and Afro-Dancehall influences.
The artist reflected on his success:
“8 months since the blessed boy album dropped over 7 million over streams on the project! Have kinda focused the last few days beating my self up on how I gotta work harder and do more & more’ he openly shared ‘But I had to remind myself that I am doing okay and there’s still so much for us to achieve! Thankyou for supporting me and streaming and sharing”.
Whilst his streams multiply over the globe, Great will be bringing his radiant style to Latitude Festival this July, accompanied by his official band, The 99. Having already brought energetic live performances to the likes of The Music Barn Festival, the collective will take to the BBC Introducing Stage to showcase lively, full-band arrangements of Great’s shimmering discography. If you’re heading to the Suffolk fields, this is not one to miss.
