Charlotte Day Wilson Is ‘ALPHA’ on Debut Album

Make way for Charlotte Day Wilson. ALPHA, the chillingly intimate debut album from the Toronto stylist’s own Stone Woman imprint, has arrived. It arrives two years after the release of Stone Woman, her second EP.

Packing tons of soul in her sedulous vocals, Wilson locks listeners in an airtight chamber to finely articulate her experience as a queer woman dealing with different sides of love, whether fractured or unhurt.

“I got more comfortable in my ability to just really spell out who I’m singing about,” Wilson told Apple Music. “I didn’t really feel like I needed to be mysterious anymore. Not that I’m trying to do anything revolutionary by being a woman singing about women—that’s a narrative that should be normalised. I just want to make the music that I want to hear.”

Tracks such as “Wish It Was Easy” are sure to be lodged in the cache of both new and existing fans during the fall and winter months, while “Mountains” and “Take Care of You” with Syd will maintain their popularity.

Babyface, Daniel Caesar, BADBADNOTGOOD, Dylan Wiggins, and Merna Bishouty are just some of the extra supporting players that assisted in creating ALPHA
