Anderson .Paak Shares New Song ‘Fire in the Sky’

Anderson .Paak is one of the dozens of artists on the official soundtrack of Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. His contribution is called “Fire In The Sky” and features a writing credit from Silk Sonic collaborator Bruno Mars.

The new song finds .Paak putting all bets on the idea of him and a desired lover, who he met one Fourth of July at the red light, making it official. For .Paak, he sees a fervent passion growing between them, making his dreams of love come to fruition.

The film, which is in theaters now and centers on martial arts, was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The soundtrack, featuring Jhené Aiko and Swae Lee’s “In The Dark,” was executive produced by Sean Miyashiro and 88rising.

“The music on this album is the beating heart of our film. As we were editing Shang-Chi, we were constantly inspired by the early recordings coming in from these incredible musicians. When I first spoke to Sean about the idea for this album, we knew we wanted it to stand alone as a piece of work, but also be wrapped in the themes of our movie… themes of family, legacy, pain and healing. We also just wanted to make a really great album that gives us all another reason to celebrate,” said Cretton about the soundtrack in a statement.

.Paak’s last solo effort outside of his Silk Sonic was last year’s “Jewelz.” He went on to produce Andra Day’s song “Phone Dies,” as well as direct the video.

As far as Silk Sonic is concerned, .Paak and Mars are gearing up for the arrival of their collaborative debut album, An Evening with Silk Sonic. It arrives in early 2022. They shared two singles: “Skate” and “Leave The Door Open.”
