Nicki Minaj Reveals Why She Turned Down Feature on Gunna’s ‘P Power’

Nicki Minaj was almost featured on “P Power.”

The rapper reveals that she was originally asked to collaborate on Gunna’s hit single. During an interview with “The Dana Cortez Show,” Nicki said that Gunna came to her studio months ago and asked her to feature on the DS4EVER standout.

“He asked me to get on his song ‘Pussy Power,’” she said. “I heard the beat and said, ‘Oh my God, this beat is out of here.’ No lie, I sat with the song for months and months and couldn’t bring myself to write for the record.”

However, Papa Bear’s mother had to turn down the collaboration because she wasn’t in the right mind state to record her verse for the explicit track. “I knew that in order to get on a track like that, I would have to be explicit,” she said. “In my opinion, I would have to kill it and be explicit and talk that real talk. And I wasn’t ready. I just wasn’t there.”

Added Nicki, “That’s just to tell you how being a mom has changed me.”

Drake was ultimately featured on the song. “Shout out to [Gunna]. Of course, he don’t care, he got Champagne Papi on the song,” said Nicki.

Elsewhere in the interview, she teased a collaboration with a mystery female artist. “I recently sent a verse back to a female,” shared Nicki.

She wouldn’t reveal who it was, but she did say that it was someone who she is not following on social media. “Barbz, mind your business,” she told her fans.

On Friday, Nicki is set to return with her new single “Do We Have a Problem?” featuring Lil Baby.
