August Alsina Is Ready to ‘Shake the World’ on New Song

August Alsina has released a new tell-all track titled “Shake The World,” which bears the same title as his independent label.

The multi-platinum artist addresses a laundry list of topics on the two-minute rap-sung track, including his run-ins with cancel culture and a music industry he claimed tried to “exile” him.

He also inserts an interpolation of Beyoncé’s “Flawless (Remix)” featuring Nicki Minaj, where she laid to rest the elevator melee between her husband Jay-Z and sister Solange.

In his case, Alsina’s reimagined verse reprised his publicized entanglement with acclaimed actress and mogul Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith’s wife.

“I heard it’s some sh*t that’s bound to go down when you got a billion dollars on the elevator / Well, of course, some shit was bound to go down when you tangled up with the world’s favorite,” Alsina boasts.

“Shake The World” is Alsina’s second time alluding to his heavily criticized situation with Pinkett Smith. He told his side in the summer of 2020 on the Rick Ross-assisted track ‘Entanglements.”

Alsina, who remixed Muni Long’s “Hrs and Hrs,” last dropped an album in June 2020. The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy served as Alsina’s proper follow-up to his sophomore album, This Thing Called Life

Since releasing his third album, Alsina has stayed on good terms with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). He was awarded five certifications in spring 2021, two of which were upped to double-platinum status (“No Love” and “I Luv This Sh*t,” featuring Trinidad James) and appeared on his debut album Testimony

Speaking of his first album, it went platinum for sales of one million equivalent units in fall 2021. It’s his first album to achieve this feat.

Most recently, Alsina teased an official return, writing on Instagram, “I wanted to remind you that the world gone get SHOOK, regardless.”
