The Mars Volta are back with another new song following their return from a decade-long hiatus. “Graveyard Love” arrives with a new short film directed by Omar Rodríguez-López that depicts various scenes in Puerto Rico. Watch it below.

The film’s description lists a series of significant dates in Puerto Rico’s history and note U.S. federal agencies’ control and drug companies multi-billion profits in the region amid poverty and unemployment. Here’s an excerpt of the song’s lyrics: “They will seek your ruin, and burn your lands, because if they can’t have you, no one can.”

The description cites two books: War Against All Puerto Ricans: Revolution and Terror in America’s Colony by Nelson Antonio Denis and Fantasy Island: Colonialism, Exploitation, and the Betrayal of Puerto Rico by Ed Morales.

Last month, the Mars Volta released the new song “Blacklight Shine” and announced a tour. They’ve since added more dates. Find those below.
