Jacob Latimore Releases New Song ‘Selfish’

Singer/actor Jacob Latimore has returned with a new song, “Selfish.”

Latimore drifts over a mesmerizing production, as he sings about dedication to his craft and not wanting to hold the heart of a woman he can’t give 100 percent.

“All I need is good vibrations / Need some new sensations / You know how / Can you pray with me? / Girl, don’t prey on me / Less is more / That’s all I need,” Lattimore sings on the new fusion jam.

“Selfish” is Latimore’s first piece of solo music since releasing Leo Season in August 2020. The EP coincided with his 24th birthday (Aug. 10).

It featured seven songs, including the early singles “Dat Ass” with Eric Bellinger and “Real Love, Pt. 2” featuring Trevor Jackson and Rotimi.

Since Leo Season, Latimore has collaborated with an array of artists, from Muni Long (“Midnight Snack“) and Yas VW (“Off the Ground“) to Chris Lee (“Nervous“).

He also teamed up with Kevin Ross and Jackson for “Real Love,” which Ross wrote and produced to celebrate Blackness.

“This song came together so organically. Started this song just days after George Floyd’s passing,” Ross said at the time of its release.

“What I saw within the country and through social media was our culture showing a level of passion, conviction, and authenticity towards a cause that’s bigger than us all.”

Latimore continues to thrive in the acting world. In season five of Showtime’s drama series The Chi, he reprises his role as Emmett Washington.

In 2021, Latimore landed a role in the upcoming thriller Panopticon. It’s still in pre-production. Most recently, he was featured in Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Latimore will star in the LeBron James-produced House Party, a reboot of the 1990 cult comedy that starred Christopher Reid and Christopher Martin, also known as Kid and Play. The film hits theaters on Jan. 13, 2023.
