Scott was initially scheduled to launch her tour in 2020 to celebrate her album’s 20th anniversary. However, it was postponed due to the pandemic.

Fans can expect the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter to perform her beloved debut in full.

“I’m going to be true to the album set list. I’ll do every song in the order of the album. My audience should bring their cd covers. Some may know the list by heart,” Scott told Billboard in 2019.

“I will create musical arrangements for the songs purposes with new energy but keep the integrity of the original songs they love. Expect theatre. Expect incredible musicianship. Expect love.”

Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1 was released July 18, 2000, on Hidden Beach Records.

The album peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 17 on the Billboard 200 charts.

Who Is Jill Scott? included the popular “Gettin’ In the Way,” “A Long Walk” and “The Way.”

“A Long Walk” peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart and spent seven weeks in the top spot.

On the same chart, “The Way” peaked at No. 2, “Gettin’ In the Way” at No. 3 and “He Loves Me (Lyzel In E Flat)” at No. 10

Of the album’s singles, two appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 chart: “A Long Walk” (peaked at No. 43) and “The Way” (peaked at No. 60).

At the 43rd Grammy Awards, Scott earned three nominations: Best New Artist, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance (“Gettin’ In the Way”) and Best R&B Album (Who Is Jill Scott? Words And Sounds Vol. 1).

She additionally picked up a nod at the 44th Grammy Awards for “A Long Walk” and the 45th Grammy Awards for “He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat) (Movements I, II, III).” Both nominations were for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.

The live rendition of “He Loves Me” appeared on Scott’s 2001 live album, Experience: Jill Scott 826+.

It’s been seven years since Scott released her last album, Woman, on her imprint Blues Babe Records in partnership with Atlantic Records.

The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 62,000 equivalent units sold in the first week.

At the time, Scott was the first female R&B singer to top the Billboard 200 in a year and a half, following Beyoncé’s 2013 self-titled album.

Woman included the Adult R&B Airplay top 10 hits “Can’t Wait” (No. 3), “Fool’s Gold” (No. 3) and “Back Together” (No. 10). The first two songs were co-written by SiR.

While this is the longest we’ve had to wait for a Jill Scott album, she has kept busy with collaborations.

Since then, Scott has collaborated with artists such as Daley (“Until The Pain Is Gone“), SiR (“Still Blue“), Alicia Keys (“Jill Scott“), PJ Morton (“Still Believe“) and Theo Croker (“To Be We“), among others.

And if she wasn’t in a recording booth – including a podcast – she was on a TV or movie set. Some of her recent roles include Lady Eve in Black Lightning, Angela Stewart in Highway to Heaven and Hazel Rachelle in First Wives Club.
