Charlie Wilson and Ronald Isley Join Fetty Wap on ‘Sweet Yamz (Remix)’

Legendary singers Charlie Wilson and Ronald Isley have teamed with Fetty Wap for his “Sweet Yamz (Remix).”

Wilson joins the melodic rapper in the chorus before getting to the first verse. “Ooh, you dropped a bomb on my, baby / Saw you standing with them yams on you, baby / When we in for the night, girl, I cook up inside / Let you know when it’s time for me to get to the yams,” Wilson sings.

Isley brings his keeps the sensual mood going in verse three, singing, “Sound like mac ‘n cheese when I’m in it / Preheat the oven, it’s getting too hot up in this kitchen / After midnight, you’re the perfect snack, baby.”

Fetty Wap’s “Sweet Yamz (Remix)” with Wilson and Isley follows his Wiz Khalifa-assisted remix that dropped Dec. 9. His initial version was released Nov. 18, exactly a year after Masego and Devin Morrison released the original “Yamz.” The two singers/musicians also released a video for “Yamz” on the song’s premiere date. 

“I really connected with the original song ‘Yamz’ from the first time I heard it earlier this year. It makes me think of one of my favorite cities, Miami. I immediately knew I wanted to flip it and had to do a Zoomix!” said Fetty Wap.

The rapper’s remake went viral, catching the attention of Wilson who participated in the Sweet Yamz Challenge on social media.

In other Wilson news, his latest single “No Stoppin’ Us” peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart in August. The song features Babyface, K-Ci Hailey and Johnny Gill. They released a fun-filled video in April.

Earlier this spring, Wilson was a supporting act on New Edition’s headlining Culture Tour

In September, Ronald Isley and the Isley Brothers released their album Make Me Say It Again, GirlIt includes their chart-topping remake of “Make Me Say It Again Girl” featuring Beyoncé. The song peaked on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.

The original song appeared on the legendary R&B group’s platinum-selling album, The Heat Is On, which was released in 1975. The Heat Is On peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Black Albums chart and Billboard’s Pop Albums chart.
