The Weeknd Releases Live Album ‘Live at SoFi Stadium’

The Weeknd has released his first live concert album, Live At SoFi Stadium, via XO Records/Republic Records.

The 31-track album consists of songs he performed at his sold-out, two-night stay at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California, last November for his After Hours Till Dawn Tour.

The 95-minute set includes live renditions of songs from his latest album, Dawn FMsuch as “Gasoline,” “Sacrifice” and “Out of Time.” It also features performances of some of his biggest hits, including “Can’t Feel My Face,” “The Hills,” “Starboy,” “Blinding Lights” and “Die For You.”

Last month, The Weeknd released a remix to “Die For You” featuring Ariana Grande. Though the original song appears on his 2016 album, Starboy, the song has seen a resurgence lately on TikTok, which propelled it back on the Billboard charts.

At the time of publication, “Die For You” is No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, three spots down from his “Creepin’” collaboration with Metro Boomin’ and 21 Savage. “Creepin’” is a reimagined version of Mario Winans’ 2004 hit “I Don’t Wanna Know,” which samples Enya’s 1987 track “Boadicea.”

The Weeknd’s live album arrives just a week after his Live At SoFi Stadium HBO special.

In recent news, The Weeknd made history as the first artist ever to reach 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify. He is the No. 1 artist in the world on the streaming platform.

Songs like “Die For You,” “Starboy,” “Save Your Tears,” “Call Out My Name” and “Blinding Lights” have more than one billion streams on the platform; the latter song has 3.4 billion streams and counting.

The Weeknd recently confirmed that his Live At SoFi Stadium special and the album will mark the end of his Dawn FM era.

“HBO concert will be the last piece of Dawn FM. i can see the horizon …,” he tweeted.

This summer, The Weeknd will kick off the second leg of his After Hours Til Dawn TourHe will play in shows in Europe and Latin America territories. The After Hours Til Dawn Tour concludes on Oct. 15 in Santiago, Chile.

Aside from music, The Weeknd is keeping busy in the world of television. He will star in his new show, The Idol, on HBO alongside Lily-Rose Depp. The Idol is written and executive produced by The Weeknd, Reza Fahim and Sam Levinson.

The Idol’s official Instagram account says it’s “the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood.”

While The Idol’s first teaser was released in July 2022, a premiere date has not been announced. Rolling Stone recently published a report containing interviews with 13 cast and crew members, alleging what caused the show’s delay: drastic rewrites, reshoots and budgetary issues.

HBO recently dismissed those claims via a statement to Variety: “The initial approach on the show and production of the early episodes, unfortunately, did not meet HBO standards so we chose to make a change. Throughout the process, the creative team has been committed to creating a safe, collaborative, and mutually respectful working environment, and last year, the team made creative changes they felt were in the best interest of both the production and the cast and crew.”

While we wait for HBO to unveil more details about The Idol’s premiere, The Weeknd will kick off the second leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour in Europe and Latin America.

Leg two begins June 6 in Lisbon, Portugal, at Passeio Maritimo De Alges. From there, The Weeknd will perform in Dublin, London, Milan, Paris, Munich, Mexico City and São Paulo. The tour concludes Oct. 16 in Santiago, Chile.

KAYTRANADA and Mike Dean will support The Weeknd on select dates. Tickets are available at theweeknd.com.
