Hear the Remastered Version of Meshuggah’s “ObZen” Ahead of Album’s Re-release

We’ve known for a while that Swedish extreme metal outliers Meshuggah were going to release a remastered version of their seminal album ObZen, but today’s drop of the title track from that version has us almost unreasonably excited for its release on March 31.

Celebrating the album’s 15th anniversary, the album’s been given another pass by Thomas Eberger and Sofia von Hage at Stockholm Mastering. The result, as you can hear from the track below, is a crisp and clean sounding version of “ObZen” compared to the original 2008 release.

Not only will the remastered version be available in a special digipak with a 20 page booklet, Atomic Fire will also release ObZen in a 180 gram gatefold double vinyl in multiple splatter and marbled color variants, each limited to 1,500 copies worldwide. For those who would rather listen to their music on a streaming platform, the high-definition audio will be available there as well.

So if you’re looking for another reason to grind your face off on Meshuggah’s guitar tones or have your core decimated by the pummeling precision of their rhythm section, the remastered version may have to be in your collection. Just make sure you also listen to “Bleed” another three million times—only now in high fidelity audio.

The remastered version of ObZen will be available on March 31 via Atomic Fire Records, though you can preorder your copy and preferred variant today.
